A 74-year-old care home resident in Spain has become the latest choking victim whose life was saved by the Dechoker, an anti-choking device that can be used for choking first aid on anyone 12 months old and up, regardless of illness, disorder or other health-related condition.
According to staff at Residencia San Agustín, a retirement home in Logroño, Spain, the resident was eating an orange when she began to choke. In their official report, Residencia San Agustín officials say a large piece of orange was removed during the first attempt with the Dechoker, and that the resident began to breathe and regained consciousness.
